After 20 years of dedicated service as CEO of Crossroads Caring for Carers, and a career spanning more than 52 years in health and social care, Chris Christie has announced her retirement. She formally stepped down from her role on 31 March 2026 to begin a new chapter.

Chris said, “It has been an absolute pleasure working for Crossroads, working with some brilliant staff and colleagues from within our sector in the Black Country and Birmingham who share the same passion and understanding of what it means to be an unpaid carer and how people with care needs deserve to receive the best possible quality of care and support.

Having spent much of my early career in health and social care, I have seen first-hand the dedication, resilience and compassion of unpaid carers and care support workers supporting others within the community, and it has been an honour to champion their voices and focus on their needs throughout my time with Crossroads.

I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together over the years. None of it would have been possible without the commitment of the Crossroads staff teams, trustees, volunteers, partners and supporters, who work tirelessly every day to make a real difference to carers and the lives of people they care for.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey. I leave with lots of happy memories, gratitude and enormous pride in all that we have accomplished together but know that Crossroads will continue to be committed to continue to strive to support families within the community served by a dedicated team.”

We would also like to share that our Chairman, Ivan Wyle, has made the decision to step down from his role. Ivan has been our Chairman since 2006, following his retirement from a long and varied career in accountancy. His wife, Ann Wyle, who has been the minute taker for our Board of Trustees since 2010, is also stepping down.

We would like to sincerely thank both Chris and Ivan for the leadership and guidance over the last two decades which has not only shaped the success of Crossroads, but has also left a lasting impact on everyone who has had the privilege to work alongside them.

As they step into this well-earned new chapter of their lives, we thank them all for their years of service.
