Carers Trust Heart of England and Crossroads Caring for Carers today announce that they are exploring a potential merger to better serve the care and support needs of individuals and families across their areas of operation.
As two operationally strong and financially sound organisations, this exciting development signifies a commitment to creating a single and even more impactful charity dedicated to unpaid carers and people with care and support needs.
Chris Christie – CEO of Crossroads Caring for Carers says: ‘It is with great excitement that we announce that our two well-known long-standing local Network Partners of Carers Trust, with embedded shared values, ethos, and mission statement to deliver quality driven services to support unpaid carers, will now be working to come together to form one robust organisation. This will allow us to develop services that will benefit many more carers and those from hard-to-reach areas of the West Midlands.
We have a clear timetable to integrate services that will focus on shoring up longer-term sustainability, driving service delivery efficiencies, increasing the best value for carers and for those who fund our services.
All of which will ensure that the enormous contribution carers make to our society and for those who need care are fully recognised, appreciated and valued and that carers’ needs, choices and voices are at the heart of everything we do. We look forward to working with you all as we move through this process to reach this next growth phase.’
Claire Dale – CEO of Carers Trust Heart of England says: ‘Having worked with Chris and Crossroads Caring for Carers in a range of capacities over the last fifteen plus years I am thrilled about this opportunity to bring our two organisations together sharing our past and present to create a stronger future for carers across our area of operation. It is indeed exciting to bring our organisations together and there is also a strength in the partnership in terms of navigating what will be challenging times ahead for charities of all shapes and sizes.’
The potential merger offers many significant advantages for the communities served by both organisations for example:
- Improved access to services: A combined organisation would have the capacity to provide a wider range of services and make them more accessible to those who need them.
- Improve service accessibility and connectivity: Streamlining provision across our areas of operation enabling individuals to find the support they need regardless of their location.
- Unified Advocacy: A stronger, unified voice would allow the merged organisation to advocate more effectively for improved services and increased investment in the sector.
- Increased Innovation: A larger organisation will have the resources to invest in research and development, leading to innovative new approaches to support for unpaid carers and people with care and support needs.
Next Steps
Both Carers Trust Heart of England and Crossroads Caring for Carers are committed to transparency throughout this exploration phase. An in-depth due diligence process will be undertaken to thoroughly assess the potential benefits and challenges of a merger. This process is expected to conclude by the end of September 2025.
We are confident that this potential merger represents a positive step forward for carer services across our respective areas of operation. We look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders including commissioners, corporate partners etc. to ensure a smooth transition and a successful future organisation.
