We are pleased share that Day Break – a day club for adults with the aim of combating isolation and helping to improve the health and wellbeing of those with care needs and their family carers in Sandwell – will be launching this April.
The day club will be every Wednesday, 10am – 3pm, with its first session on Wednesday 29th April 2026. Held at Crossroads Carers Hub in Oldbury, Day Break offers a welcoming, safe and secure place for people with care needs to enjoy a change of scenery, do a variety of activities, enjoy a hot, nutritious meal and socialise.
Chris Christie, CEO at Crossroads said, “Day Break offers a welcoming space where people can engage in meaningful activities, build social connections, and receive the support they need to enhance their wellbeing.
There is also a recognised need for unpaid carers, many of whom are family members, to access valuable respite time. An experienced team of Crossroads Care Support Workers will facilitate Day Break to provide assistance with mealtimes and personal care needs when required, giving peace of mind to family carers and ensuring that everyone who attends feels safe and supported.”
The day club is open to all adults living with any condition, including dementia, regardless of whether they currently access Crossroads care services or not.
There will be a range of social activities on offer each week, including quizzes, puzzles, games and gentle exercise for those who can, with staff ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable and fulfilling time. A beautiful, accessible garden space also offers the opportunity for fresh air and gardening activities for those who can no longer safely access their own garden.
