Caring for Carers Dementia Support Groups

Caring for Carers Dementia Support Groups are groups specifically for carers of people with dementia or memory problems living in the Birmingham area.

In partnership with Birmingham Carers Hub, we offer a number of carer groups across Birmingham. The groups provide direction, information, emotional support and signposting to appropriate help when required. We are very sensitive to the journey of  ‘a life with dementia’ but also understand that we are all unique in our journey and illness – ‘one size does not fit all’.

The environment of our groups is supportive, sensitive, loving, factual, but also a space to share and listen. We will aim to keep you updated with different topical issues to support your journey through talks, speakers and presentations.

Many of our carers having walked this journey will go on to share those experiences through volunteering at our groups in all kinds of roles. (Please make contact with us if this sounds right for you).

    Covid Update

As covid restrictions have eased, we have introduced face-to-face group meetings. However, we understand that some people may still feel that they are not ready for this. Therefore, we also have two Zoom sessions (details below). Those joining us on Zoom will get to ‘virtually meet’ everyone in attendance.

    Face-to-Face Dementia Support Groups

Our face-to-face Dementia Support Group meetings give you the opportunity to meet other carers in a similar situation, share experiences and listen. Led by one of our experienced facilitators, the groups will be a place which provide direction, information, emotional support and signposting to appropriate help, wherever you are on your caring journey.

Please be assured that Covid-19 safety measures are followed – we want everyone to feel safe when joining us in person at a group.

Please remember our groups are for you as the carer supporting a loved one living with dementia, however, should the need arise, and you need to attend with your loved one, we will not turn you away. Please discuss with the group facilitator in the first instance.

We do ask for a £2 contribution for our face-to-face sessions, this is for refreshments and activities. Please pay on arrival at the venue.
