Hi everyone! I began working for Crossroads in 2010 as a Care Support Worker, after working for several years in an educational environment, with a Health & Safety background.

In 2013 I joined Crossroads Training Department where I have been involved in training and developing Crossroads staff, ensuring they remain highly skilled, qualified and compliant in both mandatory and specialist areas. I have also provided training for many family carers and P. A’s over the years, improving their knowledge, safety and confidence.

Since joining Crossroads, I have achieved my Levels 2, 3, and more recently my level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Services. Separate to this I also worked to achieve my Level 3 Assessing Competency in the Workplace qualification.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling, as well as spending time with family.

I have been in the Health and Social Care industry for some 44 years having begun my career as a residential worker with children (in the dim and very distant past), in South Wales. Here I am, some 44 years later training for Crossroads Care.

My career has been varied – to say the least and has taken me through many different roles and situations from that of a Qualified Social Worker (Dip. S.W. University of Wales/Dip Higher Education), Principal Training Officer within a Local Authority, managing my own social worker team and line managing three family centres.

I am a qualified Practice Teacher (C.C.E.T.S.W), Assessor – formerly NVQ and now RQF Qualification Standards. It has been my privilege to work with all age groups ranging from lecturing at a local College of Further Education (where I gained my DTLLS Qualification), to spending some time employed by a National training Provider – travelling the length and breadth of the UK.  This has given me the opportunity to work with and train professionals to a very high level and gave me the opportunity to research and develop commissioned training programmes on specialised subjects.

Being passionate about my work, I get great pleasure from the knowledge that whilst I am no longer a practitioner, I can still make a major contribution to the quality of care received by service users as a direct consequence of providing good quality training to colleagues of all levels within the organisation.

Working as a member of a small training team means that we can offer relevant training to our staff at Crossroads Care. We can get to know one another very well – training from induction, through their Care Certificate and onward to ensure that we are playing our part by developing high-quality training as part of a high-quality service.
